Karina Martinez is a Research Professor at UNAM since August 2012, focusing on the development of structural models to understand molecular recognition processes through computational and spectroscopic techniques, with current research goals aimed at designing antiparasitic and analgesic agents. Additionally, Karina serves as an Affiliate Research Assistant Professor at the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University since February 2008 and was an Assistant Member at Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies from August 2007 to July 2012, where work centered on opioid receptors and medicinal chemistry. Previous experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at The University of Arizona, teaching positions at Universidad de La Salle and UNAM, and a brief term as a Visiting Scholar at Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas. Karina obtained a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Computational Chemistry from UNAM, following a Bachelor’s degree in Food Chemistry from the same institution.
