Jay Gibbs has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Jay started their career as an Instructor at Debate it Forward in 2018 and then worked as a Student Intern at U.S. Courts Probation and Pretrial Services, where they completed processing and supervision assistance tasks for defendants awaiting criminal trial. In 2019, Jay interned as an Investment Associate at Bridgewater Associates, where they performed macroeconomic research and analyzed economic recovery from recessions and downturns using Microsoft Excel.
Following this, Jay joined ComicsVerse as a Content Writer, where they provided content for the Anime, Manga, and Culture sections, along with handling SEO and social media tasks. In the same year, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Chicago, assisting with general and dissertation research on black identity and cultural formation among young incarcerated adults.
In 2020, Jay worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at NORC at the University of Chicago and as a Research Associate at Raines International Inc. As a Graduate Research Assistant, they supported research projects, and at Raines International Inc., they conducted industry research and drove data-driven components of business development.
Jay joined Maisonette in 2021 as an Analytics Engineer, where they collaborated with marketing, operations, merchandising, and finance teams to create and maintain data models using Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, AWS applications, and Looker.
Currently, Jay is working as an Analytics Engineer at Resonance Companies, starting from September 2022 onwards. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated skills in data analysis, research, content writing, and data engineering in various industries.
Jay Gibbs attended The McCallie School for high school, where they pursued a general studies program. After completing high school, Jay Gibbs enrolled at the University of Chicago, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. During their time at the university, they undertook a quadruple major with honors, focusing on East Asian Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, and Comparative Race. Additionally, Jay Gibbs has obtained several certifications, including "Dealing with Microaggression as an Employee" from LinkedIn in October 2021, "Google Data Analytics Certificate" from Coursera in October 2021, and "Unconscious Bias" from LinkedIn in May 2021.
