Dan Shawhan is a Fellow and Gilbert F. White Fellow at Resources for the Future since July 2013, and has served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Cornell University in the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management since 2010. Prior experience includes an Assistant Professor of Economics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from July 2008 to July 2013, and being a Doctoral Student and Instructor at Cornell University from August 2002 to July 2008. Dan Shawhan held roles as Energy Program Manager and Executive Director at Maryland Public Interest Research Group and MaryPIRG Foundation from August 1999 to August 2002, and worked as a Research Associate at Tellus Institute, the Geothermal Energy Association, the U.S. Export Council for Renewable Energy, and the American Wind Energy Association in the late 1990s. Educational credentials include a PhD in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Grinnell College.
