Kristina Gawrgy

Kristina Gawrgy has a diverse work experience in the field of communications. Kristina is currently working as the Vice President of Communications at Resources for the Future since July 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Chief Communications and Community Building Officer at Independent Sector from February 2021 to June 2023. Kristina also served as the Vice President of Communications and Marketing at Independent Sector from November 2019 to February 2021. Additionally, they worked as the Director of Strategic Communications & Public Relations at Independent Sector from October 2015 to November 2019.

Before joining Independent Sector, Kristina was the Director of Communications at Parkinson's Action Network from June 2013 to October 2015. Kristina also worked as a Research Fellow at Georgetown University's Center for Social Impact Communications from June 2013 to September 2014.

Earlier in their career, Kristina held the position of Communications and Social Media Manager at Independent Sector from January 2011 to June 2013. Kristina also worked as a Communications Coordinator at the National Association for the Education of Young Children from February 2008 to January 2011.

Kristina's career began as a Staff Writer at The Gazette (Post Newsweek Media) from May 2006 to February 2008, where they covered various beats, including health, crime, and education, and consistently had front-page stories.

Kristina Gawrgy completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland, which they attended from 2002 to 2006. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University, where they studied until 2017.
