Marcela Jimenez is currently the Office Manager at RetiSpec. Prior to that, they worked as a Graduate International Peer Ambassador at Ryerson University from September 2021 to April 2022. In that role, they supported international and newcomer graduate students in their transition to Ryerson University and Toronto by providing information and referrals to appropriate campus resources. Additionally, they fostered a culturally sensitive environment that encouraged international and newcomer graduate students to ask questions and discuss their concerns. Jimenez also represented the University at on-campus recruitment programs such as open houses, tours, and orientation sessions as required. Finally, they created community-building opportunities that facilitated connection among the international and newcomer graduate student community through culturally relevant programming.
Before their work at Ryerson University, Jimenez was the Coordinator of the National Laboratory of Research and Medical Technologies at CIDESIMX from January 2018 to August 2021. In that role, they oversaw the research projects being conducted at the Laboratory and ensured that they met the highest standards of quality. Additionally, they developed new medical technologies that were used in hospitals across the country.
Finally, Jimenez interned as a biomedical engineer at Hospital of specialties of the child and the woman from November 2016 to January 2018. In that role, they assisted in the development of new medical technologies that were used in the hospital. Additionally, they provided support to the hospital staff in the use of these technologies.
