John Wiltshire-Gordon began their work experience in 2017 as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. John worked in this role until July 2019. In July 2020, they transitioned to a role as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Williams College, where they stayed until July 2021. In 2020, they also began working as a Computer algebraist for Macaulay2, where they are under contract to write code for the computer algebra system. This position is set to end in February 2023. In 2021, they joined Zagaran, Inc. as a Software Engineer, and in December 2022, they became the Head of Artificial Intelligence at RetroacDev R&D Tax Credit Automation Software.

John Wiltshire-Gordon completed their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at the University of Chicago from 2007 to 2011. John then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics at the University of Michigan from 2011 to 2016.
