Silvana Mercado Barrios

Silvana Mercado Barrios is an accomplished policy and budget analyst at Rhode Island Commerce since July 2022, having previously held roles as a special projects and operations associate. With experience in Rhode Island government, Silvana served as executive assistant to the Secretary of Commerce and special projects associate from June 2021 to July 2022, and as a special assistant for economic development from June 2019. Silvana’s experience also includes a fellowship at Providence College's Feinstein Community Fellows Program, where collaboration with a councilwoman focused on development projects and policy research, alongside participation in community engagement initiatives addressing social equity issues. Additional roles, including internships and leadership positions, demonstrate a commitment to education, social justice, and community development. Silvana holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in International/Global Studies and Economics from Providence College.
