Steven Black

Steven Black has a diverse range of work experience. Steven started their career as a College Program Attractions Host at Walt Disney World, where they focused on customer service and ensuring guest safety. Steven then worked as a Research Assistant in the Economics Department at George Mason University, where they collected data on timberlands. Steven also worked as a Human Factors and Applied Cognition Lab Assistant, conducting tasks to assess working memory inhibition.

Steven then transitioned into the field of data analysis and visualization, working as a Research Assistant at the Krasnow Institute for Advanced Study. Here, they performed benchwork and analyzed large datasets using Excel and SPSS. Steven continued to develop their data skills as a Data Analyst and Visualization Program Manager at Carahsoft, where they created data products and integrated machine learning into existing tools.

In recent years, Steven focused on DevOps engineering, starting as a Solutions Engineer at Oracle, supporting pre-sales teams and specializing in open-source products. Steven then worked as a Data Scientist at Terazo, building a cloud-based data platform for a Fortune 100 company and immersing himself in DevOps best practices.

Currently, Steven is a Senior DevOps Engineer at Rhythmic Technologies, where they automate processes and works on GitHub projects. Through their extensive experience in various roles and industries, Steven has developed a strong skill set in data analysis, visualization, and DevOps engineering.

Steven Black's education history includes a Master of Science (MS) in Information Systems from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, earned between 2017 and 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Economics from George Mason University, completing their studies between 2009 and 2014. In addition to their academic degrees, Steven Black has obtained several certifications, including the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate from Amazon Web Services in April 2022 and the AWS Certified Security - Specialty from Amazon Web Services in November 2020. Steven has also completed various online training courses and certifications, such as Apache Spark Essential Training, Networking Foundations, and Data Engineering on Google Cloud Platform Specialization, obtained from institutions such as Lynda.com, LinkedIn, and Coursera between 2017 and 2018.
