Juuso Heikkilä

Juuso Heikkilä has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering, with a focus on GPU drivers and 3D rendering engines. Juuso currently holds the position of Principal Engineer at Rightware, where they started in July 2022. Prior to that, Juuso worked at Vire Labs Ltd for over a decade, starting in September 2011 and being a Co-Founder and Lead Developer. During their time at Vire Labs Ltd, they were responsible for various tasks such as map plug-in development, Vulkan backend development, and glTF importer/exporter.

Before joining Rightware and Vire Labs Ltd, Juuso held positions at Qualcomm, AMD, ATI Technologies Inc., Bitboys, Novobit Oy, and UPM. At Qualcomm, they worked as an Engineer, Staff/Manager from an unknown start date until August 2011, leading the 2D GPU driver team and being responsible for GPU accelerated graphics composition. At AMD, they were an MTS Software Development Engineer from October 2006 until an unknown end date, participating in the OpenWF Working Group and representing AMD in Khronos Group teleconferences. At ATI Technologies Inc., they worked as a Senior Engineer from May 2006 until October 2006.

Prior to their work in the software engineering field, Juuso worked as a Machine Operator at UPM, where they operated a longitudinal cutting and re-reeling machine as a temporary replacement during paternity leaves and summer vacations from 1996 to 2000.

Juuso Heikkilä began their education in 1993 at Merikarvian lukio, where they pursued The Finnish Matriculation Examination. Juuso completed this program in 1996. Following this, from 1996 to 2003, Heikkilä attended Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. Juuso earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Information Technology from this institution.
