Matthijs van Alfen started their work experience as an intern at Royal A-ware Bouter Cheese, where they were responsible for quality control for a brief period in 2014. Matthijs then interned at Anheuser-Busch InBev in the Innovation & Technology Department from November 2015 to April 2016. In 2017, they worked as an intern at TNO, focusing on equipment for additive manufacturing. At the same time, they also interned at Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods, specializing in quality control from August 2017 to January 2018. Most recently, Matthijs joined Rival Foods in 2020 as a Graduate Intern Product Development, where they played a key role in developing high-quality fish analogues and served as the flavor expert within the company.
Matthijs van Alfen pursued their education in the field of food technology and processing. Matthijs first attended the HAS green academy from 2013 to 2017, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree with a specialization in Product Development. Following this, Matthijs enrolled at Wageningen University & Research, where they completed a Master's degree from 2018 to 2020. Matthijs'sMaster's degree was focused on Food Technology with a specialization in Ingredient Functionality.
