Robert Brittain Daniel

Dr. Britt Daniel was born in Athens, Georgia, the second son of a United States Air Force officer, and an elementary school administrator. Because his father’s military career required frequent moves, he attended schools in a number of different including Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

Dr. Daniel graduated with honors from Summerville High School in 1990 among a class of more than 600 students. In 1994, he graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, where he served as a Cadet Second Lieutenant in the Regimental Band and Pipes and was privileged to perform for two U.S. presidents: Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush (41); two U.S. senators: Bob Dole and John McCain; The Commandant of the Marine Corps: the late General Carl Epting Mundy, Jr.; and countless British dignitaries at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland. Following his Citadel experience, Dr. Daniel traveled the well-worn path from Charleston to Columbia where he earned a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1998.

Having passed the bar exam in South Carolina, he acquiesced to his wife’s request to return “home” to Georgia with the understanding that he would teach English for a year while studying for the Georgia bar. Needless to say, things did not go as planned.

Finding that he has a genuine passion for the military model of education, Dr. Daniel has served Riverside Military Academy for more than 20 years in several capacities, to include: 7 years as an English teacher; 5 years as the Chairman of the English Department; 2 years as the Assistant Academic Dean; 2 years as the Academic Dean; and in his present capacity as the Executive Vice President since April of 2015.

Dr. Daniel has been a presenter at the Georgia Independent School Association’s Annual Conference and a frequent contributor to Reveille, the Academy’s own magazine, which is published annually.
