Jose R. has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Jose began as a Program Coordinator for The Corporate Work Study Program in 2001, and later became the Director of the program from 2009 to 2012. Following that, they served as the Vice President of The Corporate Work Study Program at Cristo Rey Jesuit and Christ The King Jesuit from 2012 to 2018. From 2018 to 2021, Jose worked as the Executive Director of The Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund, leading a scholarship-granting foundation for secondary education in Chicago. In 2021, they founded their own company, J.R.R. Strategies, where they served as the Founder and Principal, specializing in building strategic alignment and talent pipelines between high-growth industries and a diverse workforce in Chicago communities. Currently, since 2022, Jose is the Director of the Community Capital Portfolio at the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, where they focus on place-based investments and advancing economic development efforts on Chicago's South and West Sides.

Jose R. earned an MBA from the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Communication from DePaul University between 1995 and 1999. Jose R. also attended Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, but no specific dates or degrees were provided for this educational experience.
