Sola Biu is the current Director of Brand Strategy at Robinhood. Prior to this, Biu served as the Head of Design Marketing and Communications at Airbnb from July 2014 to June 2021. In this role, Biu was responsible for brand/creative strategy, narrative development, and execution across digital content, experiential events, creative PR, and partnerships. Biu also managed Airbnb's Design Learning and Development team.
During Biu's time at Airbnb, they built Airbnb's global design community and expanded brand awareness and consideration among creatives. They also positioned Airbnb as a beacon for top tier creative talent. Additionally, Biu seeded and expanded the design brand through partnerships, experiential, and content marketing into international markets. Lastly, they launched open source tools (Lottie, Tyrus, Another Lens, etc.) that were used by 6+ million creatives and design entrepreneurs.
Biu played a foundational role in establishing Airbnb's early internal creative culture through programming such as internal design conferences, onboarding programs, and career and growth programming.
Sola Biu has a digital media skills certification from University of California, Berkeley and a BA in communications, journalism from Virginia Tech.
Their manager is Desiree Caballero, Head of Employer Brand. They work with Scott Wheaton - Director of Growth & Brand Partnerships, Fay Vlahu Scott - Director of Brand Strategy.
