Jan Schulz is a Senior Scientist at Roche with extensive expertise in neuroscience. Between 2012 and 2021, Jan worked as a Scientist at the University of Basel, focusing on the role of different interneuron subtypes in learning and memory in health and disease under the supervision of Professor Josef Bischofberger. Previously, Jan served as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the same lab, conducting projects related to GABAA receptors containing the α5 subunit in the hippocampus. Prior experience includes a Postdoctoral Researcher position at the University of Bern (2010-2012), investigating GABAB receptor-mediated inhibition in cortical neurons, and a brief role as an Assistant Research Fellow at the University of Otago in 2010, characterizing synaptic short-term plasticity. Jan earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Otago (2006-2010) and a Diplom in Biology from The University of Freiburg (2000-2006), along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Science in Neuroscience from the University of Otago in 2004.
