Sarah McNicholas has a diverse work experience that includes various roles and responsibilities. Sarah started their career as a Veterinary Assistant, Receptionist, and Kennel Assistant at Centreville Animal Hospital in 2007 and worked there until 2011. In 2010, they joined BJ's Restaurants, Inc. as a Bartender and remained in that role until 2017. In 2015, they worked as a Practicum Student Keeper Aid at the Smithsonian Institution. Sarah also gained research experience as a Research Assistant at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, starting in 2018. Sarah was involved in field work, including sampling for ticks, beetles, and mosquitoes, monitoring small mammal populations, and recording scientific data using various applications. Sarah also worked as a Field Technician at the NEON Program for a brief period in 2017, where they performed similar field sampling and data entry tasks.
Sarah McNicholas began their education at Hollins University in 2008, studying Biology/Biological Sciences. However, it is not clear if they obtained a degree from this institution. Sarah then attended Northern Virginia Community College from 2011 to 2014, where they earned an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences.
In 2014, Sarah enrolled at George Mason University and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Integrative Studies, with a concentration in Conservation Biology. During their time at George Mason University, they also pursued a minor in Conservation Biology at the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation in 2015.
Sarah has furthered their education by obtaining additional certifications. In September 2017, they became a certified Leave No Trace Trainer from the Leave No Trace Center For Outdoor Ethics. Additionally, in March 2017, they obtained an Adult First Aid/CPR/AED certification from the American Red Cross.
