Denis Favez

Denis Favez has a diverse work experience in both scientific research and project management. Denis began their career as an intern at Firmenich in 1995 before moving on to work as a research assistant at the University of Geneva. During their time there, they focused on reducing bacterial adhesion on PVC endotracheal tubes through oxygen plasma treatments. In 2002, Favez joined Rolex as an R&D Project Manager, where they worked until 2005. During this time, they also pursued a PhD at EPFL, focusing on gold-steel laser welding. After completing their PhD in 2009, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia, researching the dissolution of TiAl3 in liquid Ti-6Al-4V and its effects on the production process. In 2010, Favez returned to EPFL as a Scientist before taking on roles as a Research Project Manager and eventually the R&D Metallurgy Group Lead at Rolex in 2011.

Denis Favez obtained a Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 1998-2009. Additionally, they completed an EPFL Diploma thesis in Biomaterials at the University of Washington from 2001-2002. As an exchange student through the Erasmus program, they studied Materials Engineering at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya from 1998-1999.
