João Basílio has a diverse work experience in the hospitality industry. João most recently worked at RoomRaccoon as a Customer Support Consultant for the Iberia region. Prior to that, they were an Assistant Front Office Manager at O'Donoghue Ring Collection. João also gained valuable experience at Indie Campers, where they served as part of the Customer Excellence & Commercial team and performed various tasks such as guest communication, reservations, and complaint handling. Prior to that, they participated in the European Solidarity Corps program at Europe direct Hauts-de-France. João's earlier experience includes roles as a Front Office Supervisor and Front Desk Agent at Fairmont St Andrews, a Front Office trainee at Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, and an F&B Intern at Finca Cortesín.

João Basílio attended the Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies from 2012 to 2015, where they pursued a degree in Hotel Management with a focus on hospitality. In addition to their degree, they have obtained two additional certifications. In October 2018, they received the SVQ in Front of House from the SQA - Scottish Qualifications Authority. In May 2018, they completed the Train the Trainer program at the Andrew Carnegie Business School.
