Toyia K. Stewart

Toyia K. Stewart is the current Vice President of Human Resources at Roosevelt University. Toyia has over 15 years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on recruitment and diversity programs.

Toyia began their career as a Sr. Recruiter & Bank Officer at National City Bank, where they developed and executed comprehensive full cycle recruiting strategies designed to maximize the quality of talent National City was hiring into the organization. Toyia promoted the bank employment brand in the market through effective advertising, participating in community and college events, direct sourcing activities, educating passive candidates on National City, and ensuring that successful and unsuccessful candidates for National City positions had a positive experience interacting with the company.

In 2005, Toyia accepted a position as Manager of Diversity Programs at R R Donnelley. In this role, they consulted with senior leadership on the best diversity practices such as recruitment, training and retention. Toyia also lead good faith efforts across the organization that reduced adverse impact. In addition, Toyia promoted R R Donnelley as an employer of choice to the community, through participation in job fairs, and executive searches. Toyia established relationships with colleges/universities, managed internships and vendors/agencies. Toyia was also a superuser of all human resources systems, including HRIS and Peoplesoft.

In their current role as VP of Human Resources at Roosevelt University, Toyia is responsible for leading the Human Resources team and initiatives across the university. Under their leadership, Roosevelt University has become a top employer in the Chicago area, known for its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Toyia K. Stewart has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in International Business & Management from Roosevelt University and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in American Studies & English from Dominican University. Toyia also has a certification from DePaul University in Human Resource Management and a certification from Heller College of Business at Roosevelt University in Graduate Credential in Managerial Leadership.

They work with Sharon Bush - Executive Director, Grand Victoria Foundation, Michael Cassidy - VP, Enrollment Management & Chief Enrollment Officer, and Rudy Marcozzi - Dean of the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Toyia K. Stewart reports to Ali Malekzadeh, President.
