Keith Goulding worked at Rothamsted Research from 1974 to March 2017. During their time there, they held the role of Scientific Director and Head of Department. As a soil scientist, they focused on research related to nutrient cycling, nutrient losses from agriculture, farm system studies, and acid rain and soil acidification. After retiring from full-time employment, they continued to work as a part-time consultant.
Keith Goulding's education history begins at Malmesbury Grammar School, where they attended from 1963 to 1970. Following their graduation from high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Mathematics at the University of Exeter from 1970 to 1973. Keith then moved on to the University of Reading to complete a Master of Science degree in Soil Chemistry, which they obtained in 1974. Keith's educational journey continued at Imperial College London, where they earned their Ph.D. in Ion Exchange from 1976 to 1980.
