Navneet Kaur .

Postdoctoral Researcher at Rothamsted Research

Navneet Kaur has diverse work experience in the field of agricultural research. Navneet kaur joined Rothamsted Research in 2020 as a Postdoctoral Researcher, specializing in plant genome editing. In this role, they are focused on characterizing and improving important traits in wheat, rice, and pulse crops.

Prior to that, Navneet worked at the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) in Mohali, India, starting in 2013. Navneet kaur served as a Doctoral Researcher and conducted their PhD research on the characterization of rate-limiting genes in the provitamin A biosynthesis pathway in Indian banana (Musa spp.). Using gene over-expression and knockout approaches, specifically CRISPR/Cas9, they studied the function of genes involved in pro-vitamin A carotenoid biosynthesis and successfully developed banana cultivars with significantly increased provitamin A content.

In 2019, Navneet had the opportunity to visit Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, as a Visiting Fellow. During their time there, they participated in the Cornell Alliance for Science Global Leadership Fellow program.

Overall, Navneet Kaur's work experience showcases their expertise in plant genetics and genome editing, with a particular focus on improving agronomically important traits and enhancing nutritional content in crops.

Navneet Kaur completed their Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Punjabi University between the years 2008 and 2011. Navneet kaur then pursued a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Panjab University, which they completed from 2011 to 2013. Following this, Navneet Kaur enrolled in Panjab University again and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Plant Sciences, which they completed from 2015 to 2020. In addition to their academic qualifications, Navneet Kaur obtained a certification as a Nuffield Research Placement Provider from STEM Learning in September 2022.
