Sam Tonkin

Sam Tonkin is an experienced communications professional currently serving as the Communications Officer at the Royal Astronomical Society since December 2023. Prior to this role, Sam held positions at MailOnline, including Assistant Science Editor from May 2021 to December 2023 and various editorial roles from April 2015 to August 2019. Additional experience includes serving as a Senior Journalist at BBC News between August 2019 and May 2021, and news reporting and editing at Archant from November 2011 to March 2015. Sam began a career in journalism as an intern at the National Council for the Training of Journalists from July 2010 to September 2011, and also worked as a Business Applications Trainer at Babcock International Group Plc from May 2008 to July 2010. Sam holds a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy from the University of Hertfordshire, obtained between 2003 and 2006.
