Richard Platt

Senior Mine Accountant at Royal Nickel

Richard Platt has extensive work experience in the mining and resources industry. Richard most recently worked as a Senior Mine Accountant at Karora Resources since July 2019. Prior to that, they were a Mine Accountant at Westgold Resources from July 2018 to June 2019.

From 2015 to 2017, Richard was employed by Kinross Gold Corporation as a Senior Financial Analyst. In this role, they conducted financial analyses, monitored site capital expenditure, and prepared capital expenditure proposals and reports.

Before their time at Kinross, Richard worked at Ok Tedi Mining Ltd as an Operations Costings Team Leader from September 2008 to December 2012. Richard was responsible for managing costings within the operations department.

From 2007 to 2008, Richard served as a Senior Financial Analyst at Talison Minerals Ltd. Their responsibilities included project planning, NPV and IRR analysis, contract review, cost-cutting initiatives, and production and cost reporting.

Richard also had brief experiences in other industries, including working as an Appeal Finance and Planning Manager (temporary contract) at the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children in 1996 and as an Economic Analyst at B.J. Shevlin Oil Analysts from 1991 to 1995.

Richard Platt began their education in 1984 at Edinburgh University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Richard completed their studies in 1988. Later, in 1992, Richard engaged in employer-sponsored private study, during which they focused on Accounting and Business/Management. This study resulted in him obtaining the qualification of Associate Chartered Management Accountant in 1995. In 1997, Richard enrolled at Murdoch University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics & Statistics in 2000. Finally, in 2010, Richard pursued further education in Islamic Finance through part-time private study, where they obtained a CIMA Diploma in the following year.
