Diane Ashiru PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of pharmaceuticals and public health. Diane is currently employed as the Deputy Chief Scientist (part-time) at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society since 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Honorary Chair and Professor of Pharmaceutical Public Health at the University of Nottingham starting from 2022. Diane also served as an Honorary Lecturer at Imperial College London and University College London.
Since 2010, Diane has been the Pharmacist Lead at the UK Health Security Agency (previously Public Health England). Diane has also been actively involved in supporting and mentoring trainee pharmacists as the Founder of ACPN Trainee Pharmacists Network. In addition, they have held committee positions in organizations such as the United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association and the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association, where they acted as the Global AMR Lead & Advisor.
Diane has contributed their expertise to the World Health Organization as a Consultant, supporting the development of the WHO Policy on Integrated Antimicrobial Stewardship activities.
As a volunteer, they have served as a Tutor and Dissertation supervisor at the People's Open Access Education Initiative: Peoples-uni. Throughout their career, Diane has made significant contributions to the field of pharmaceuticals and public health.
Diane Ashiru PhD completed their education in a chronological order. Diane obtained their Master of Research in Public Health from The University of Manchester from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, they pursued a PhD in Clinical Pharmaceutics at The School of Pharmacy, University of London, from 2005 to 2009. Diane also holds a Dip Clin Pharmacy from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, which they completed between 2003 and 2005. Diane Ashiru PhD started their educational journey with a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Bradford, which they obtained from 1998 to 2003.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Diane Ashiru PhD has also obtained several certifications. Diane completed an Innovation Masterclass at the Government Campus in August 2022. In March 2022, they became a Credentialed Consultant Pharmacist through the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Furthermore, they became a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health in April 2016 and obtained the title of Fellow Faculty of Royal Pharmaceutical Society (FFRPS) in February 2016. Lastly, in December 2015, they completed the Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice.
