Emmanuel James has a diverse work experience in the energy industry. Emmanuel'smost recent position was as the France Italy Interconnector Project Director at RTE Réseau de Transport d'Electricité, which they started in September 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the Operations Manager, Regional Control Centre at the same company from May 2019 to October 2022. Emmanuel also had a role in European Affairs at RTE from April 2016 to April 2019, and worked as a Dispatcher from September 2013 to March 2016. Before joining RTE, they had a role as an Energy Trader at Solvay Energy Services from February 2012 to August 2013. Emmanuel previously held an internship position in Economic Studies at AREVA in 2011, and was a Research Intern at CIRED in 2010.

In 2008, they enrolled at ENSTA Paris, where they obtained an engineering degree in Energy. During the same period, they also studied at ENSTA Paris without any specified degree or field of study.
In 2010, Emmanuel James attended IFP School (ENSPM) and obtained a Master Recherche degree in Energy Economics, which they completed in 2011.
