Colin Maxwell

Colin Maxwell is a Senior Scientist at Ruby Bio since February 2023, with a robust background in scientific research and development. Previously, Colin held various roles at Zymergen from February 2019 to December 2022, culminating as Scientist III, where responsibilities included leading workstreams for strain improvement in non-model yeast and developing advanced genome editing techniques, achieving significant improvements in target molecule production. Colin's experience includes postdoctoral fellowships at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, focusing on evolutionary biology under Daniel Matute, and at North Carolina State University, where novel Cas nucleases were characterized. Earlier, Colin worked as a Research Technician at MitoSciences, improving antibody purification processes. Colin earned a PhD in Biology from Duke University and holds a BS in Mathematics from the University of Oregon.
