David J. Mitchell

Webcast Commentator; Member of Strategic Growth Team for Athletic.net at RunnerSpace

David J. Mitchell has a long and varied career in the fields of education and sports. David J. began their career in 1981 as an Engineering Aide at Midwestern Consulting, where they gained experience in a variety of tasks. In 1985, they began teaching, coaching, and counseling at Pinckney Community Schools. In 1999, they began working for the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation as the Chief of Announcing Team, a member of the Operations Committee, and the Editor of the Trackademics page. In 2015, they began working for RunnerSpace.com as a Webcast Commentator and a member of the Strategic Growth Team for Athletic.net. In 2016, they began working at Pinecrest Elementary School as a Guidance Counselor. In 2017, they began working at Clemson University Track & Field (via Coach O), UGA, and UofSC as the Lead Announcer. In 2018, they began working for ACC Network Extra as a Broadcast Analyst. David J. also began working for Lane Gainer Sports (Bullet Belt and Shingo Imara) as the Social Media Manager in 2014, and for Top Gun Volleyball Club as a Volleyball Coach, Camp Instructor, and Private Lessons in 2010.

David J. Mitchell obtained their High School Diploma from Saline High School in 1981 after completing college prep studies. David J. then attended Eastern Michigan University from 1981 to 1986, earning both a BS in English, American Literature and Language and an MA in Guidance and Counseling. In 2016, they obtained a Guidance and Counseling K-12 certification from the State of South Carolina Department of Education. David J. also has a Guidance and Counseling K-12 certification from the State of Michigan. In 2018-2019, David J. Mitchell completed an Endorsement on Teaching Certificate from Francis Marion University in the field of Educating Children of Poverty.
