Alek Rollyson

Alek Rollyson has a diverse work experience in the field of cloud security and information security. Alek is currently working as a Staff Cloud Security Engineer at Runway since June 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Engineering & Security at Ascend Innovations from April 2022 to June 2023.

Before joining Ascend Innovations, Alek worked as a Senior Security Engineer at Rapid7 from July 2021 to April 2022. Alek also gained extensive experience in information security while working at FireEye, Inc. as a Senior Staff Information Security Analyst from June 2019 to June 2021, a Staff Information Security Analyst from June 2017 to June 2019, a Senior Information Security Analyst from December 2015 to June 2017, and as a Solutions Analyst II from January 2014 to December 2015.

Alek's career in cybersecurity started at Mandiant in November 2013, where they worked as a Solutions Analyst II until January 2014. Prior to that, they worked at the United States Department of Defense as a Malware Analyst from September 2012 to November 2013 and as a Networks Analyst from July 2011 to September 2012.

Their early professional experience includes working as an IT Administrator at Matrix Business Solutions from June 2008 to June 2011. Through their various roles and experiences, Alek has developed a strong background in cloud security, information security, and network analysis.

Alek Rollyson attended The Ohio State University from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Management Information Systems. In 2013, they obtained certifications in GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM) and GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) from GIAC / SANS Institute.
