Jos Seegers

Jos joined S-biomedic as a consultant in 2018 and is the current Director and Coordinator of Microbial Production. Jos fulfills this role alongside his position as Director of Operations at Caelus Pharmaceuticals; there, he primarily supervises the production of human microbiota-derived bacteria, one of which was used for the first-in-human studies.

Long fascinated by the impact that bacteria can have on well-being, Jos has dedicated his career to the development of health applications involving bacteria. Before switching his attention to the human gut microbiota, for several years he was the director of his own company that focused on the development of lactic acid bacteria for vaccines and therapeutics. It was this work that brought him in contact with S-biomedic and what triggered his interest is how bacteria from the skin microbiota can be exploited to develop novel and innovative therapeutic strategies.
