Mark Herndon

Mark A. Herndon has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Mark A. started their career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1991, where they held positions ranging from Staff to Manager, Senior Manager, and ultimately, Assurance Partner. In these roles, they led audit engagements for various clients, specializing in pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, as well as complex financial reporting topics.

Herndon's expertise also extended to PwC's National Office, where they focused on accounting and reporting issues associated with business acquisitions, impairments, restructurings, segment reporting, and revenue recognition. Mark A. later became a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Safeguard Scientifics in 2018. In this position, they were responsible for financial planning, reporting, investor relations, treasury, IT steering, and human resources. Mark A. successfully streamlined internal operations and reduced overall spending by more than 70%. Additionally, they generated over $250 million in proceeds from the sale of private company positions.

Most recently, Herndon served as a Board Member at Lumesis, Inc., a financial technology company specializing in municipal bond market solutions. During their tenure, they represented Safeguard Scientifics during Lumesis' successful exit in 2021.

Mark A. Herndon received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting from Georgia Southern University, where they studied from 1987 to 1991. Mark A. later pursued an MBA at Emory University - Goizueta Business School from 2000 to 2001.
