Michael Kinnan, MD is a lifelong Minnesota resident having attended the University of Minnesota where he obtained degrees in Mathematics and Physiology, with a minor in Biology. He then attended the University of Minnesota Medical School and while in training, sparked an interest in Medical Toxicology while on rotation at Hennepin County Medical Center. He completed residency in Family Medicine in the Regions Hospital Family and Community Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Kinnan received his training in Medical Toxicology through the Healthpartners Medical Toxicology Program at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has been board certified in Medical Toxicology since 2010, and also maintains board certification in Addiction Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine. He has worked extensively in Emergency Medicine since graduation and currently has positions at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis and with Allina Health. He is also affiliated with the Minnesota Regional Poison Center where he participates in fellowship education and precepting. He has lectured in educational settings on numerous toxicologic topics to residents, fellows and physicians. He has participated in several publications and poster presentations. More recently, Dr. Kinnan has been consulted in legal cases regarding toxicology and substance use.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly, who is a Family Medicine physician, and their two children. They enjoy going camping and to the cabin, traveling, as well as working in their yard. He also enjoys working on classic cars, playing soccer, mountain biking as well as watching MN Gopher Hockey, and reading. He is a lifelong fan of Neil Diamond and David Hasselhoff.
