Farah Ismail

Farah Ismail has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Farah is currently the Senior Vice President, Chief Legal, Privacy and Compliance Officer (CLPCO) at SE Health, where they are responsible for legal, privacy, ethics, risk, compliance, governance, and patient relations. Farah also holds the position of Founder + Principal at I N T E R S E C T. Additionally, Farah has worked as an Adjunct Lecturer at Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing. In their previous role as Director at the College of Nurses of Ontario, they led the enforcement function of the provincial regulator and was responsible for program development, stakeholder engagement, and staff management. Prior to that, they worked as a Lawyer at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, specializing in defense litigation and providing legal advice to healthcare facilities. Farah also has experience in nursing, having worked as an Operational Resource Nurse + Nursing Care Manager at SE Health and as a Registered Pediatric Nurse + Clinic Nurse at The Hospital for Sick Children.

Farah Ismail completed their education as follows:

- In 2023, they attended the Health Leadership Academy at McMaster University and obtained a National Health Fellow degree.

- From 2003 to 2006, they studied at the University of Windsor and earned an LL.B degree in Law.

- Between 2001 and 2003, they pursued a Master of Science in Nursing degree with a focus on Health Promotion & Health Administration at Western University.

- From 1996 to 2000, they completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Western University.

Farah also received additional certifications, including Privacy Officer Certification from Kate Dewhirst Health Law in 2020 and Fellow of Regulatory Excellence from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) in 2015. In 2007, they were called to the Bar by the Law Society of Ontario. Furthermore, they hold a Certificate Membership in the Iota Omicron chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is registered as a nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario since 2000.
