Peter Pietka has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Peter began their career in 1990 as a Legal Advisor at Maersk Oil, and later worked as General Manager of Corporate Affairs for Maersk Inc. from 1992 to 1997. Peter then joined A.P. Moller - Maersk as the General Manager of Corporate Secretariat, where they provided legal and commercial advice for Maersk companies globally and played a key role in the acquisition and integration of Sealand in 1999.
In 2001, Pietka transitioned to Svitzer A/S (Group) as the Senior Vice President of Commercial & Corporate Affairs, contributing to the company's international expansion and overseeing multiple acquisitions. Peter later served as the Managing Director of Svitzer Americas, where they successfully developed the towage business in North and South America. Peter also held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Svitzer Salvage, where they increased market share and led the establishment of the Svitzer OPA90 program in the US.
From 2012 to 2019, Pietka served as an Executive Committee Member of the INTERNATIONAL SALVAGE UNION. Peter then joined Ardent in 2015 as the Chief Executive Officer, leading the company in becoming an industry leader in emergency management, offshore decommissioning, wreck removal, and subsea services. During their tenure, they oversaw a merger between a US and Dutch company, resulting in significant cost savings.
In 2020, Pietka became a Partner at US Nordic Consult, supporting Nordic and technology-driven companies in securing business growth in the United States. Currently, they hold roles as the EVP of Saltchuk Marine & President of Foss Maritime Company, where they focus on safety, environmental stewardship, and innovation in the towage, offshore wind, and marine services sectors. Peter is also involved in the development of the first private US offshore wind marine terminal and logistics hub.
Peter Pietka attended the Harvard Business School in 2012, where they completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) in Business Administration and Management. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) / HD (F) degree in Finance from the Copenhagen Business School in 1994. In 1991, they attained a Master's degree in Law from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen. Before their higher education, Peter also received education in Maersk International Shipping at A.P.Moller-Maersk in Copenhagen, Denmark from 1985 to 1987.
