Shoba Iyer

Shoba Iyer is a seasoned professional in toxicology and environmental health, currently serving as the Senior Municipal Toxics Reduction Coordinator at the San Francisco Department of the Environment since April 2022. In this role, Shoba Iyer focuses on developing and implementing strategies to reduce toxic materials in San Francisco’s municipal sector, overseeing initiatives such as the Buy Green and Integrated Pest Management Ordinances. Prior to this position, Shoba Iyer held various roles at the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, including Staff Toxicologist and Associate Toxicologist, conducting extensive research on chemical hazards and toxicology. Academic credentials include a PhD in Environmental Health Sciences with a focus on Toxicology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, complemented by a BA in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
