Michael Shavalier has a strong background in creative operations and strategic digital goals. Michael began their career as an Associate Art Director at Phoenix New Times and later worked as an Art Director at Cleveland Scene and New Times Broward-Palm Beach. Michael then moved on to become an Art Director at Miami New Times where they directed, conceptualized, and designed covers and editorial features. Afterwards, Michael served as the Design Director at Voice Media Group, overseeing art departments for multiple newsweeklies. Michael joined SANDOW in 2011 as a Senior Art Director for Worth magazine, where they conceptualized and designed award-winning covers. Michael later became the Director of Creative Operations, where they implemented systems for creative and editorial departments, and then transitioned to the role of Vice President, Creative Operations. Most recently, Michael has been serving as the Chief Operating Officer at SANDOW, responsible for implementing new solutions and overseeing various departments including Creative Operations, Digital Marketing Operations, Web Development, and Information Technology.
Michael Shavalier attended the Rochester Institute of Technology from 1993 to 1997, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Graphic Design. In addition to their formal education, Michael has obtained various certifications from the HubSpot Academy. These certifications include Inbound Marketing Certification, HubSpot Sales Software Certified, HubSpot Marketing Software Certified, and Inbound Certified. Michael obtained these certifications in different months and years, with the most recent certification being the Inbound Marketing Certification in May 2021.
