Ani Deshpande has extensive experience in the field of cancer research, currently serving as an Associate Professor at Sanford Burnham Prebys since January 2015, following a tenure as Assistant Professor. Previously, Ani held the position of Research Instructor at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from October 2012 to December 2014 and served as an Instructor in Pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School from February 2009 to October 2012. Ani's academic journey began with graduate studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, where a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) was obtained in Cancer Stem Cells and Leukemia after completing a Master's Degree in Science in Microbiology at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, and a Bachelor's Degree in Science in Microbiology at Vivekanand Education Society's College of Arts Commerce and Sciences. Notable research achievements include the establishment of a mouse bone marrow transplantation model for recurrent human leukemia, identification and characterization of leukemic stem cells, and investigation of transformation mechanisms within this model.
