Matthew Harris

Matthew Harris is an experienced Crime Analyst currently working at the Santa Rosa Police Department since November 2022, with a previous role as a Crime Analyst for the County of Sonoma from July 2006 to November 2022. Matthew’s expertise includes transforming data into actionable information to support police investigations and operational strategies. Notable achievements include the development of gang crime tracking tools, weekly beat reports, and various technical solutions to enhance data accessibility. Previously, Matthew served as a Military Police officer in the US Army from 1995 to 2001, holding several leadership positions that focused on law enforcement and training. Matthew earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University-Sacramento between 2001 and 2003.
