I moved to Santa Rosa to teach kindergarten at what was The Stewart School, a music school for ‘littles’. Then to the Petaluma Fairgrounds for a few years as the 2nd grade teacher in The Reid Method, where, daily, we posted LPs down to 3 minute increments. Then a jump for a few years at SR’s DAC HS program, The Clean and Sober School, followed by a few years at a residential treatment center, Bachmann Hills, for adolescent wards of the court. The next chapter was close to a decade as a professional skunk, head to toe, touring internationally (even!!), with a self esteem program for K-3. I landed in Geyserville for the next chunk as the teacher and principal of the alternative high school and then the VP of the high school. It was there that I fell in love, truly, with second language learners; I have been refining that lens ever since. Deeply trained in AVID, I was the Region 1 EL Trainer for a stretch. I landed in SRCS as a Literacy Coach as well as with a laser focus on Newcomers/Emergent Bilinguals. I have a masters in Educational Leadership and am 3 times certified as a National Board teacher.
I’m honored, challenged and ever more encouraged to be the secondary EL Speicalist for the first SRCS Multilingual Services team, assisting sites and teachers in the implementation of curriculum for Newcomers and Emergent Bilinguals as well as introducing/leveraging data and strategies to support the transformation of how we schedule and design for these scholars!

Personal Q&A
How do you like to receive feedback?
I respect when feedback is direct, thoughtful and absolutely honest. Being able to trust the integrity of the communication allows me to hear and then integrate whatever needs to be said.
