John Whelan

John "Ike" Whelan is a seasoned compliance professional with extensive experience in the financial services sector. Currently serving as the Director of Compliance Policy & Governance at Santander Consumer USA since October 2016, Whelan has successfully redesigned the Compliance Policy and Standard Department and developed the company's first internally housed Regulation Inventory. Previous roles include Director of Compliance at CGI, where Whelan was instrumental in creating a regulatory compliance tool, and Quality Manager - Process Engineering at Washington Mutual Card Services/JP Morgan Chase, overseeing compliance measures across multiple operational divisions. Earlier experience includes positions at Capital One Auto Finance and Citigroup, where Whelan led compliance initiatives, risk assessments, and Six Sigma projects. Whelan holds a BBA in Finance from the M.J. Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University.
