Melissa Johnson

Director, Lung Cancer Research at Sarah Cannon Research Institute

Melissa Johnson has extensive experience in the field of medical oncology and cancer research. Melissa started their career in 2004 as a Resident Physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where they worked until 2007. Melissa then joined Weill Cornell Medicine for an Internship from 2004 to 2007. Following that, they were a Fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from 2007 to 2010, after which they became an Assistant Professor at Northwestern Medicine from 2010 to 2014. In 2014, Melissa joined the Sarah Cannon Research Institute as the Director of Lung Cancer Research, and also started working as a Medical Oncologist at HCA Healthcare. In 2015, they joined Tennessee Oncology as a Medical Oncologist. Melissa's work experience showcases a diverse background in oncology research, clinical practice, and teaching.

Melissa Johnson obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, General from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Melissa attended this institution from 1995 to 1999. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, attending from 2000 to 2004.
