Ben Debruin

Ben DeBruin is an experienced special education teacher currently employed at SASED since August 2023. Prior to this, Ben worked at The Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE) from July 2022 to August 2023, and at Ridgewood High School from June 2015 to June 2022. Ben also provided special education services at Lindblom Math and Science Academy from August 2003 to June 2015, where responsibilities included teaching math to students with low incidence disabilities and opening an upper primary Trainable Mentally Handicapped classroom. Earlier experience includes roles as a substitute teacher and teacher assistant at Niles Township District for Special Education from 2001 to 2003. Ben holds a Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Multiple Disabilities from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor's degree in Special Education specializing in Moderate, Severe, and Multiple Disabilities from Illinois State University.
