Jarred Selbst

Jarred Selbst has a diverse work experience that spans several industries. Jarred currently works at Sasfin, where they started as a Legal Adviser in March 2020 and now holds the position of Data Privacy Manager. Prior to joining Sasfin, Jarred worked at Prime Meridian Direct (Pty) Ltd as a Market Conduct Professional from January 2018 to March 2020. Jarred also gained experience as a Candidate Attorney at Bembridge Minnaar Attorneys Inc. from December 2015 to January 2018. In addition, Jarred completed vacation programmes at Baker & McKenzie, Tabacks, and Norton Rose Fulbright in 2015 and 2014. Jarred started their career in 2011 as a Short Term Insurance Quote Technician at Insurance Zone. Overall, Jarred has developed a strong background in legal and compliance roles, with a focus on data privacy and market conduct.

Jarred Selbst began their education in 2009 at the University of the Witwatersrand, where they pursued a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Finance and Marketing. Jarred completed this program in 2012. In 2013, they continued their education at the same institution, now focusing on Law. Jarred successfully obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with Cum Laude honors in 2015.

In 2019, Selbst sought further academic development at the University of Johannesburg. Jarred obtained a Higher Certificate in Money Laundering Control with Distinction, where they studied AML/CFT, FICA, POCDATARA, and FATF. Jarred also received a Higher Certificate in Compliance Management with Distinction, focusing on Law.

In terms of additional certifications, Selbst obtained the status of Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in July 2018, granted by the Law Society of South Africa. Jarred also completed certifications from OneTrust, including becoming a OneTrust Data Mapping Expert and a OneTrust Certified Privacy Professional in June and May 2021, respectively. Additionally, Selbst achieved the OneTrust Vendor Risk Management Expert certification in June 2021.
