Dr. Marc Hufnagl has a diverse and extensive work experience in various scientific and data-related roles. Dr. Marc started their career at the Terramare Research Institute as a Research Scientist, where they conducted sampling campaigns and analyzed water samples. Dr. Marc then worked as an Environmental Fate Analyst for consulting activities before joining the Institute of Hydrobiology and Fisheries Science as a Research Scientist and later as a Doctorand. In these roles, they focused on population dynamics and lifecycle modeling of marine species. Dr. Marc continued their research as a Postdoc at the Danish Technical University and Thünen Institut, where they worked on modeling marine ecosystems and analyzing flows of energy and toxins through trophic layers. Dr. Hufnagl also gained experience as a Professor at the University of Hamburg, where they developed mathematical models and conducted complex data analysis in the field of fisheries science. Prior to their current position as Data Science Lead at Sasol, they worked at Evonik Technology & Infrastructure GmbH as a Senior Scientist, leading data engineering projects and utilizing advanced data analytics for process optimization and prediction. Dr. Marc Hufnagl holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biology/Biological Sciences from the University of Hamburg. Dr. Marc also obtained a Diploma thesis in Marine Environmental Science from the Terramare research center in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Additionally, they are certified as an IHK Digital Change Manager by IHK Rhein-Neckar and as a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) by Scrum Alliance.
