Simone Less

Corporate Venture Capital at Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures

Simone Less has a strong background in the energy industry, with a focus on research and development. From 2008 to 2023, Simone worked at Aramco, starting as a Scientist and later becoming a Team Lead. In these roles, Simone led projects on crude oil treatment and the development of innovative separation processes. Simone was also responsible for designing new instrumentation for process monitoring and demonstrating new technologies at processing facilities. Prior to joining Aramco, Simone worked as a Research Fellow at NTNU from 2006 to 2008. Currently, Simone is employed at Aramco Ventures, the corporate venturing subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. Simone's role at Aramco Ventures is to invest in early-stage and high-growth companies with strategic technologies related to sustainability in Europe.

Simone Less has an extensive educational background. Simone began their academic journey at Politecnico di Milano, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Energy Engineering in 2003. After completing their undergraduate studies, Simone pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Energy Engineering with a specialization in Hydrocarbons Technology from the same institution. Simone successfully completed this program in 2006.

Seeking further advancement in their field, Simone enrolled in the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2006 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering. Simone dedicated two years to their doctoral studies and was awarded their degree in 2008.

In 2015, Simone decided to expand their expertise beyond the technical realm and ventured into the field of business administration. Simone enrolled in The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Two years later, in 2017, Simone successfully completed their studies and obtained their MBA with a focus on Business Administration, Management, and Operations.

Overall, Simone Less has acquired a diverse educational background, combining their technical expertise in Energy Engineering with a postgraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration in Business Administration, Management, and Operations.
