Dr Omar Mohammed

Dr. Omar Mohammed's work experience includes holding the position of Research Scientist at Scancell Limited since 2021. Prior to this, they worked at the University of Nottingham, where they served as an Associate Research Fellow from 2017 to 2021. In this role, they led lab-based work on projects investigating children's brain tumors and molecular and genetic pathways associated with the disease. Dr Omar also managed the IHC lab, supported lab users, ensured a safe environment for experiments, and assisted in grant writing and paper publication. Before that, they worked as a Research Technician and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Nottingham, where their work involved investigating the impact of GAGs on human induced pluripotent stem cells and creating a 3D instructive microenvironment for cell culture. Additionally, they have experience as a Biomedical Scientist and a Laboratory Demonstrator at the University of Nottingham and as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Mosul.

Dr Omar Mohammed received a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Baghdad, with no specified start year but completed in 2006. Dr Omar then pursued a Master's degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the same institution, completing it from 2011 to 2013. Dr Omar further pursued their education at the University of Nottingham, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular and Developmental Toxicology, completed from 2013 to 2017.
