Michael Tsai has a diverse work experience in the field of art and technology. Michael began their career as a VFX Technical Director at Giant Killer Robots in 2006, where they worked on projects like Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Michael then worked as a Matchmove Artist at The Orphanage, where they contributed to Red Cliff 2. In 2009, they joined Sony Pictures Imageworks as a Comp/Lighting ATD, where they worked on G-Force 3D.
In 2011, Michael joined Lightswitch as an Art Intern, working on projects such as creating motion graphics in After Effects for Old Navy San Francisco. Michael also worked at Carnegie Mellon University as a Teaching Assistant for Building Virtual Worlds and later as an Adjunct Instructor.
Michael then worked at Whiskytree as a Render Wrangler, managing renderfarm and maintaining its health. Michael joined Schell Games in 2013 as a Game Artist, and gradually progressed to the role of Advanced Artist before becoming a Senior Artist in 2018.
Michael also worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Carnegie Mellon University in 2017 and 2018, contributing to the education of aspiring artists and designers.
Michael Tsai earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 3D Animation - VFX from the Academy of Art University, where they studied from 2001 to 2006. Michael later pursued a Master of Entertainment Technology degree at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center, completing their studies from 2010 to 2012.
