Maya Moretta is an accomplished professional with a strong background in climate initiatives, community engagement, and social justice advocacy. Currently serving as an Associate and Analyst in Climate and AI at Schmidt Sciences, Maya played a key role in developing a $225 million proposal for enhancing carbon budget measurements. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Chief Climate Scientist on program development and creating data infrastructure adopted across multiple programs. Prior experience includes coordinating grant programs for Maryland Humanities, where over $1 million was awarded to non-profits, and assisting in curriculum development at the 1619 Freedom School under Nikole Hannah-Jones. Maya's advocacy work with the GU272 Advocacy Team focused on reparations, successfully mobilizing support and raising awareness through various platforms.
