Dan Carter joined Scientific Drilling International in May 2011 as General Counsel and Secretary. During his time at Scientific Drilling, Dan’s scope and duties have changed as the needs and wants of Scientific Drilling have changed.
Dan has more than 35 years of experience in the energy sector progressing through engineering and legal roles while on the E&P side to legal leadership roles in the service sector. Immediately prior to joining Scientific Drilling, Dan served as SVP, General Counsel, and Chief Administrative Officer of Global Energy Services - a Lime Rock Partners’ company consisting of several entities engaged in the manufacture of innovative well service systems and mud pumping solutions and some of the industry’s first walking drilling rigs.
After graduating from college, Dan began his career at Transco Exploration & Production as a Drilling Engineer before moving on to its pipeline affiliates where he served in both technical and legal roles. Beginning in 1998, Dan spent more than 10 years with NATCO Group in the most senior legal and management roles; during his time at NATCO, he led its initial public offering, energetic merger and acquisition activities, and placement of a $100 million senior credit facility.
Dan is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Political Science; he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. He is a member of several legal and energy-related professional organizations.
