Madeline Smanik has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Madeline started their career as a Student Assistant at John Carroll University Grasselli Library and Breen Learning Center in 2013. In 2014, they worked as a News Intern at WKYC-TV and also as an Editorial Intern at Cleveland Magazine. The following year, they joined The Carroll News as a Campus Editor, where they formatted, edited, and revised the Campus section, developed story ideas, wrote articles, and conducted interviews. Madeline then joined NBC News in 2016 as an NBC / John Carroll University "Meet the Press" Fellow. Starting in 2017, they worked at U.S. News & World Report, initially as a Public Relations Intern before progressing to Communications & Public Relations Coordinator and then Communications & Public Relations Manager. In these roles, they managed public relations efforts for Education product launches, wrote, edited, and distributed press materials, and translated complex rankings methodologies into plain language. Their most recent position was at SCORE Mentors, where they served as a Public Relations Specialist starting in 2023.
Madeline Smanik completed their high school education at Westlake High School from 2008 to 2012. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Communication and Political Science from John Carroll University, graduating between 2012 and 2016.
