Principal Data Architect at Scorpion Design

Michael England has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Michael currently holds the position of Principal Data Architect at Scorpion since October 2021. Prior to this, from July 2020 to October 2021, Michael worked as a Cloud Data Architect at The Standard. Before that, from January 2017 to June 2020, they served as a Data Engineer IV at The Standard. Simultaneously, they worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Portland from January 2017 to October 2021.

Michael also has significant experience in the field of engineering, particularly at Intel Corporation. From June 2015 to July 2016, they worked as a Senior Process Engineer - Chemical Supply, ensuring quality chemical supply streams and improving factory infrastructure. Prior to this, from August 2013 to June 2015, they held the role of Senior Process Engineer - Factory Support, troubleshooting components of a factory automation system. Additionally, from April 2009 to July 2013, Michael worked as a Senior Process Engineer - Lithography, gaining experience in immersion scanner lithography and leading various projects.

Their earlier work experiences include roles such as Instructor at San Jose State University, Graduate Student Researcher at Argonne National Laboratory, Graduate Student Instructor at UC Berkeley, Instructor of Mathematics at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and Instructor at San Jose State University.

In 2002, Michael completed a research internship at Schering-Plough Research Institute, focusing on the use of microwave radiation for isotopic-labeling of organic compounds.

With extensive experience in data architecture, engineering, education, and research, Michael brings a well-rounded skill set to their current role as Principal Data Architect.

Michael England's education history includes a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biology from The College of New Jersey. Michael also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.

In addition to their academic degrees, Michael has obtained two certifications from Microsoft. In December 2018, they earned the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Data Management and Analytics Certification. In November 2018, they also obtained the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: Data Engineering with Azure certification.
