Vishal Bala

Vishal Bala is a Senior Data Scientist at scoutbee since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Automation Hero, Inc from 2019 to 2022, where they held roles such as Lead Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientist. In these roles, they were responsible for leading teams, executing major projects, and leveraging ML domain expertise to deliver self-service AI offerings. Vishal also worked on consultancy-based projects involving deep learning architectures for OCR and NLP tasks, developed neural network training frameworks, and created artificial data generation tools.

Before joining Automation Hero, Inc, Vishal worked at CareDash from 2016 to 2019. Vishal held positions as Lead Technical Analyst, Senior Quantitative Data Analyst, and Quantitative Data Analyst. In these roles, they developed an AI system for screening reviews, analyzed web traffic data to improve SEO efforts, and exposed a statistical relationship between pharmaceutical industry payments and doctor prescriptions. Vishal also led teams in designing and building scalable data pipelines, won prizes in company hackathons, and undertook large analytical projects using Python and PostgreSQL.

Vishal began their career as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Boston University Institute for Astrophysical Research from 2013 to 2016. During this time, they contributed to academic publications and expanded our understanding of high-energy outbursts from super-massive black holes.

Vishal Bala completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with Honors in Astronomy & Physics from Boston University, where they studied from 2012 to 2016. Prior to their university education, they attended Dubai International Academy from 2007 to 2012 and obtained their International Baccalaureate Diploma. In terms of additional certifications, Vishal obtained the "Introduction to Machine Learning in Production" certification from Coursera in November 2021. In 2018, they completed the "Intelligent.ly Exchange (Leadership & Management Workshop)" offered by Intelligent.ly. Additionally, Vishal participated in the "Intelligent.ly Emerge (Leadership Workshop)" program in 2017.
